Summary

[edit]
Description
Deutsch: Mehrzweckbajonett M1959 der Nationalen Volksarmee der DDR für die AKM (modernisierte AK-47).
English: The wire cutting AKM Type I bayonet formerly of the NVA (Nationale Volksarmee). The top edge of the blade can be used as a saw. The handle is made of an electrical insulator and the metal sheath is fitted with a rubber insulator as well so a live, high-voltage wire may be cut. Since the wire cutting edges are not insulated, cutting an electrified cable with both a live wire and a neutral wire will cause a short-circuit that can produce a bright flash of light and melt parts of the bayonet away. NATO Foreign Weapons Training. (1/2)
