Summary[edit]

Description

Following Katrina's landfall, NOAA scientists joined with U.S. Coast Guard helicopter teams to survey urban and coastal areas to better understand storm damage as well as identify and visually confirm sources of pollution. Obtaining a bird’s eye view of storm impacts help our scientists assess community vulnerability to hurricanes and provide timely scientific advice to emergency responders and public health managers.
