Description Stamp of Nicaragua; 1989; aimail stamp stamp of the issue "200th Anniversary of the French Revolution - International stamp exhibition 'PHILEXFRANCE '89' in Paris, France"; stamp motive shows a detail of the painting "Sement de La Fayette à la Fête de la Fédération" (French for "The Oath of Allegiance sworn by Lafayette") (meant is Marie-Joseph du Motier, Marquis de La Fayette (1754-1838, also "Gilbert Motier...", shortly "Lafayette"), General in France and in America during the American Revolution and leader of the French National Guard during the revolution); This event "Sworn of the "Oath of Allegiance" to the French constitution by Lafayette took place on the afternoon of the on the "Champs de Mars" before Paris during the "Fête de la Fédération". The event took place after a full Latin Mass. The oath was executed on the altar erected for the mass. The priest beside the altar shall be Talleyrand (1754-1838), diplomate and former Priest and now as representant of the "Third Estate" in the new formed "National Assembly". In the background is depicted George Washington.; The moment of swearing is showing by this painting.; This painting of an unknown artist was created in 1790/1791 the style of the classicism and is contemporary shown to the publicity in the "Musée de la Révolution Française" in Vizille (France), but was also located in the "Musée Carnavalet" in Paris (France).; The exhibition "PHILEXFRANCE '89" took place in the time from 7 July 1989 until 17 July 1989
