Description Stamp of Nicaragua; 1989; aimail stamp stamp of the issue "200th Anniversary of the French Revolution - International stamp exhibition 'PHILEXFRANCE '89' in Paris, France"; stamp motive shows a detail of the painting "Liberty Leading the People" (original title: "La liberté guidant le peuple") by Eugène Delacroix (1798-1863); The painting show the "Marianne" as symbol figure (metronym) of the French Nation which is leading as "Goddess of Liberty" (with the French tricolor in the raised hand) the People (= the French bourgeoisie) through the battle. The painting epitomized the events on the during the French July-revolution (...and not, how by this stamp suggested, the French revolution of 1789).; This painting was created in 1830 in the style of the Romanticism and is contemporary located in the "Musée du Louvre" in Paris (France).
