Summary[edit]

Description
English: The last in a series of construction gates along both shoulders of Bass Drive, the former U.S. Route 15 and 301 overlap in Santee, South Carolina. The gates are intended to prevent drivers from using the bridge over Lake Marion, which was used by cars on this road until the overlap was relocated to the nearby Interstate 95 bridge over Lake Marion in 1987, and since then has been used for a pedestrian bridge, bikeway, and fishing pier. At the time this picture was taken however, the bridge couldn't even be used for those purposes, because the South Carolina Department of Transportation was preparing to demolish the bridge. And thought they can't be seen in this photograph, a small group of stray cats did prowl around the vicinity.
