  • On back in ink, in unknown hand: To a very dear friend with much love, Annie R (?) Chilson, Mar. 28, 1932. This was given to my aunt when she was a child 12 yrs old. She gave it to me when I was 18. The artist drew it in school when he was 10 [i.e., 15] yrs old, in Pamfret, Ct. My aunt was then Anna Bowers, after she was Mrs, Joe Cavarly.
  • On back: black stamp of L.C. Fine Arts Division (Lugt 926f).
