In front of Bahrain's embassy, democracy activist Ali Mushaima, gives a brief press conference on the 16th day of his hunger strike. He told journalists, with defiance and self confidence, that "my empty stomach is stronger than their (Bahrain's) weak and cowardly regime." After 16 days, Ali remains on hunger strike to save his 70 year old father, political prisoner Hassan Mushaima, detained in dire conditions in Bahrain since 2011. He has been denied access to books, family visits and urgently needed medical care. Ali has lost 7 kg and understands the serious consequences if he continues. Although tired, he's keen to talk about his father and his hopes. |
