Deutsch: Völkerkundemuseum zu Leipzig, Bergschaf-Fell, Darstellung des Sonnentanzes, Shoshone, Anfang 20. Jh.
Die Shoshone oder Shoshoni (eingedeutscht auch Schoschonen) sind ein Volk der Indianer Nordamerikas, zu dem drei sprachlich und kulturell nah verwandte Gruppen gehören: die Nördlichen Shoshone, die Östlichen Shoshone und die Westlichen Shoshone. Sie verteilen sich auf zwei Kulturareale: das Große Becken und östlich angrenzend der Norden der Great Plains.
