Historic wool mill in Ulverton, Quebec, Canada. Now an interpretive centre.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A historic wool mill built in 1849 by William Read Dunkerley in an existing sawmill and carding mill. It became briefly known for the quality of its wool but was sold again in 1875 to George Henry Goddard. The mill then became the Goddard Mill. Four owners will succeed each other. In 1924, Joseph Blanchette, who operated the mill since 1906, added a lean-to to the north facade of the building following the purchase of a new spinning machine. In 1944, the mill could no longer adequately meet the needs of the company, it moved to Princeville. The building was shortly thereafter closed and abandoned. In 1982 it was recognized for its value and restored. It is now an interpretive centre on the production and processing of wool. This photo is of a cultural heritage site in Canada, number 7030 in the Canadian Register of Historic Places.
