Title
English: Motorboat towing water skier, July 1927
Description
English: During the 1920s, small gasoline-powered motorboats became very popular on the waters around Seattle and the nation. Some daring people began to experiment with ways to use motorboats to pull each other across the water. First came the aquaplane, which was something like a surfboard. Next came water skis, invented in Seattle in 1928.

This photo, taken in July 1927, shows a motorboat towing a woman who is probably skiing on an aquaplane.
