[edit]All Princeton Mourns For Moses T. Pyne. University's Benefactor Buried Near "Presidents' Row" After Services at Drumthwacket. Special to The New York Times. Princeton, New Jersey; April 25, 1921. Town and gown of Princeton today did impressive homage at the funeral of Moses Taylor Pyne, graduate of the class of '77, philanthropist, financier and most beloved alumnus of the old university. The funeral services were held at the beautiful Pyne estate, Drumthwacket, shortly before noon, and crowds of friends and old graduates thronged into town during the morning. Recitations at the university were suspended for the day at 11 o'clock, and the four classes of the college assembled at different points on the campus under the leadership of the class marshals at noon. The bell in the tower of Old Nassau pealed out the mourning of the university over the uncovered heads of the 2,000 students who took part in the ceremonies. Before entering the campus the procession went through the grounds of the Graduate College, crossed to the south-west corner of the campus, and passed before the new Moses Taylor Pyne Dormitory, named in his honor last week. The Rev. Robert Williams, rector of Trinity Church. where Mr. Pyne had been a vestryman for more than a quarter of a century, officiated at the funeral services. President John Grier Hibben of the university read the lesson, and Dr. Baker, rector emeritus of Trinity, pronounced the benediction. The double quartet of the university sang during the service.
