Title
English: Montlake Bridge, ca. 1925
Description
English: Montlake Bridge was the last of four bascule bridges to be built across the Lake Washington Ship Canal. It opened for traffic in June 1925. Like the Fremont, University, and Ballard bascule bridges, the Montlake Bridge has huge counterweights which lift the spans.

This photo shows the Montlake Bridge around 1925. The towers of the bridge were designed to harmonize with the buildings at the nearby University of Washington. One of the reasons given for the building of the bridge was to get fans to and from football games.
