Description
English: Stock certificate of the Monmoutshire Canal Navigation, issued 29 April 1799 in Stockton, with text extract from the Act of Parliament of 1792, according to which the company would have the right "for making Rail Ways or Stone Roads from such Cuts or Canals to several Iron Works and Mines in the Counties of MONMOUTH & BRECKNOCK", which was realised in 1793 with the formation of the Trevil Tramroad Company as a sub-company with a capital of £5,000. The horse-drawn railway was opened in 1797.
