| Description |
Molana Priory, County Waterford, Ireland Statue of St. Molanfide which was erected at the beginning of the 19th century in the cloister yard of Molana Priory, facing southward. Please note that the habit and the inscription are historically inaccurate as there were no Augustinian Canons Regular in the 6th century. The inscription at the base reads as follows: This statue is erected to the memory of Saint Molanfide who founded this Abbey for Canons regular A.D. 501. He was the first Abbot and is here represented as habited according to the Order of Saint Augustine. This Cenotaph and Statue are erected by Mrs. Mary Broderick Smyth A.D. 1820 |
