| Description |
English: Market square of Mettingen, Kreis Steinfurt, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The Roman Catholic Saint Agatha Church on the left side, the Saint Michael Memorial in the middle, the Berentelg House in the background (covered by trees) and the big plane tree(Platanus), planted in 1908, on the right side.
Deutsch: Marktplatz von Mettingen, Kreis Steinfurt, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland. Links die römisch-katholische Pfarrkirche St. Agatha, in der Mitte der Erzengel-Michael-Brunnen, hinten das Haus Berentelg (durch Bäume verdeckt) und rechts die große Marktplatane. Die Platane ist im Jahr 1908 von Leo Schneider auf seinem Grundstück gepflanzt worden und hat seither alle Veränderungen des Marktplatzes überstanden. Das Haus Schneider wurde hingegen 1959 abgerissen, Grund und Boden von der Gemeinde Mettingen aufgekauft. Seither ist die Platane öffentliches Eigentum.
