| Description |
Deutsch: Isolierter, voll artikulierter Fötus von Mesosaurus tenuidens in fortgeschrittenem (terminalem?) Entwicklungsstadium (Exemplar-Nr.: FC-DPV 2504), Mangrullo-Formation (Artinsk, Unterperm) von Uruguay. Die Bezeichnung „Deckmembran“ (im Original „cover membrane“) bezieht sich auf die offenbar unmineralisierte Schale/Hülle des abgelegten Eis. Für detaillierte (partielle) Beschreibungen des Fossils siehe Piñeiro et al. (2012:622–624)[1] und Piñeiro et al. (2016:9–11)[2].
Anmerkung: FC-DPV 2504 ist nach Angaben von Piñeiro et al. (2012) eigentlich ein Abdruckfossil (engl. external mould; vgl. dazu auch Abb. S1 in Piñeiro et al. (2016)[3]), wohingegen das Stück hier positiv reliefiert wirkt. Es handelt sich daher möglicherweise um einen Latexabguss (oder evtl. auch um ein digital bearbeitetes Graustufen-Negativ). In der Quellpublikation (Laurin & Piñeiro, 2017; für bibliographische Einzelheiten dem unten angeführten Quellenlink folgen) finden sich dazu keine Angaben.

This is a retouched picture, which means that it has been digitally altered from its original version. Modifications: Aus der Grafik wurden zwei Linien herausretouchiert, die den Ausschnitt einer Detailabbildung (Teilabbildung B im Original) markieren. Außerdem wurde die Position des Maßstabsbalkens geändert, der Teilabbildungsbuchstabe „A“ entfernt und die englische Beschriftung durch eine fachgerecht übersetzte deutsche Beschriftung ersetzt.
