Title
Mesolithic Flint Combination Tool
Description
English: A Mesolithic flint combination piercer and a scraper/blade dating from about 8300 BC - 3500 BC. The tool is formed on a flake of opaque light brown flint which has a small amount of white cortex at the distal end. The flake is sub triangular. The proximal point has been worked into a burin or piercer and small removals on the dorsal and right have shaped the point. The area of the distal right side may have been used as a scraper or, because of the shallow angle, as a cutting tool. Similar tool combinations are discussed on page 168 of Prehistoric Flintwork by Butler (2005).
