English: The Mercado Modelo de Salvador was opened on December 9, 1912 to be a supply center for the city of Salvador. In 1971, after a fire that destroyed it, it was transferred to its current building, where the Customs House was previously located. It is located in the Lower City of Salvador, in front of the Lacerda Elevator. The building reproduces established neoclassical forms from the second half of the 19th century, with a square plan and a circular building in the background, which was previously used for docking freight ships.
