Title
Medieval Unidentified Item
Description
English: An unidentified copper alloy fitting of probable Medieval date and possibly related to horse harness mount decoration. The fitting is shaped like a small spoon with an elongated D-shape sectioned handle which is bent and broken. There are traces of gilding on the convex surface of the spoon and traces of four probable gilded stripes running across the top section of the 'handle'. No good, complete parallel has been found for this item at this time but see PAS record SF-135396 for a similar style of fitting, also unidentified. Provisionally dated c.1200-1400.
