[edit]DescriptionMedieval Stained glass window, St Marys Nettlestead (geograph 3847967).jpg |
English: Medieval Stained glass window, St Mary's Nettlestead. Arms: Azure fretty argent (Etchingham); Gules, two bars gemelles between three annulets argent (Rykhill). Text from:[1] The article "The Stained Glass Windows of Nettlestead Church" by W E Ball page 228, gives the family chart of William Batisford and Margaret Peplesham (d 1405) and it gives Sir William Echyngham married Alice Batisford /Battisford and had at least Joan who married William Rickhill(Rykill). This is wrong as William Rikhill(her father in law) who died 1407 was married ,when he died ,to Rosa Medlan and they had sons William and John, Nicholas and so the years don't fit. Records seen to indicate that it was John Rikhill , the son she married. But other information has William Batisford and Margaret Peplesham as having other children including Elizabeth who married Sir Wm Brenchley, a well know court lawyer, and they lived in Kent. There is a will for Elizabeth Batisford Brenchley on file at Canterbury in 1453 in which she leaves estate to Echyngham relatives Elizabeth Lewknor and Thomas Hoo .Her niece and gr nephew/ This should show some relationship and give proof that Joan and Elizabeth came via the Batisford line. |
