Medieval Rowel Spur
Description
English: Incomplete medieval iron rowel spur: the neck tapers towards its extremity and is divided for over half of its length by the rowel box, the surviving end of which is oval and perforated for the missing rowel pin. The neck is of sub-triangular section where it springs obliquely from below a pointed crest on the remains of the tapering D-sectioned sides, the terminals of which are missing. Length >62mm. Width >47mm. See Clark 1995, fig.97. 14th century.
