Title
Medieval - Post Medieval bag seal (front and back views)
Description
English: An incomplete cast lead or lead alloy cloth seal, probably dating to the late Medieval - Post Medieval, between AD 1400 - 1650 (length: 29mm; diameter: 20mm; thickness: 4.5mm; weight: 7.2g).

The cloth seal is sub-circular in plan and flat in section, with a damaged and flattened suspension loop at the top. It consists of two discs, one perforated to receive an integral rivet on the reverse of the other; the flattened remains of the rivet survive. The artefact appears to be decorated on one side only (the riveted face), where a probable horse, dog or camel is depicted facing right in the incomplete centre. A small border of small zig-zag markings appears around the outside edge to the right of the central animal. There is no other decoration. The seal has a mid grey white colour and is largely incomplete at the back. Overall, the artefact is in a worn but fair condition.
