Summary

[edit]
Description

Medics carry a wounded soldier towards a Bell H-13 helicopter in Korea on 23 July 1953, four days before the armistice.

Original caption: "Aerial Ambulance--U.S. medics gently carry a wounded soldier towards a Bell H-13 helicopter, prior to evacuation to another medical aid station for emergency treatment. By using aerial transport, a patient is sometimes transported from the front lines to a modern hospital in a few hours of smooth comfortable movement, where other methods would require days of jarring tortuous travel."
