Title
Medieval vessel: oxidised ware jug (plan).
Description
English: A rim sherd of a Medieval Oxidised Ware vessel. The vessel has a fragment of an applied handle, which sits flush with the rim. The upper surface of the rim is decorated with three slashed parallel lines. Only a fragment of the rim remains, but the break is fresh. The wall of the vessel is vertical. The fabric has a mid grey core brown/orange surfaces. It has oolitic and grog inclusions. It weighs 52.4g. The vessel was probably a jug with a narrowed neck. The heavily decorated handle suggests it was produced in the 12th to 13th centuries.
