Title
Medieval buckle: Small strap plate buckle
Description
English: A cast copper alloy small D-shaped strap plate buckle with a narrowed and offset strap bar. The thin copper alloy pin is intact. The buckle has a plate made from a single piece of copper sheet that has been folded over the strap bar. The plate would have been secured to the strap by a single copper rivet (now missing). The frame has a slight lip where the pin rests. This buckle is very small, and must have been for a child or possibly it secured a small casket or box - It would not have held up to rigorous use as its size makes it a delicate object.
