Summary[edit]

Description

An inchworm or measuring worm is busy determining the circumference of this flower but stopping for a snack along the way. I guess somebody has to do it. The photo was taken on Lincoln Street here in Brunswick, ME.

The geometer moths or Geometridae (from Greek geo γη or γαια 'the earth' and metron μέτρων 'measure' — refers to the larvae, or inchworms, which appear to "measure the earth" as they move in a looping fashion) are a family of the order Lepidoptera. [Wikipedia]
