Summary[edit]
DescriptionMeander-cutoff Umlaufberg-Luetzelberg Schelklingen Schwaebische-Alb.jpg |
English: Cut Meander with eroded “core” (small mountain) around, “Lützelberg”, Upper Danube, Swabian Alb. The Upper Danube abandoned its 42 km long mountainous valley, which it eroded in several million years on the Swabian Alb towards Ulm. The former Danube valley from then on was used by the relatively small river Blau. Now, the Danube left the Swabian Alb already at Ehingen, digging a new riverbed of only 27 km into a relatively flat terrain further south, where the territory of the north-alpine Molasse basin follows the plateau of the Swabian Alb. |
