Description
English: Cartoon by John T. McCutcheon published in Chicago Tribune, 23 September 1918.

"EVENTUALLY - WHY NOT NOW?"

Cartoon shows a large barrel keg labeled "U.S.A. NATIONAL TREASURY". At top pipes, labeled "TAXES", "REVENUES", and "LOANS" deliver a flow of coins labeled "NATIONAL INCOME" at the top of the barrel. A few holes in the keg labeled "EXTRAVAGANCE" "WASTE" "SQUANDER-LUST" have been plugged or patched. Uncle Sam sits beside the keg, hand on the closed tap. He is wearing a uniform and has a rifle. He is labeled "NATIONAL BUDGET SYSTEM".
