Music by JulesMassenet. First production at the Opera, Paris, November 30, 1885, with a notable castincluding Jean and Eduard de Reszke and Pol Plancon. The first American productionoccurred at the New Orleans Opera. First New York presentation February 12, 1907, withthe de Reszkes, Plancon, Lassalle, de Vere and Litvinne.
