Martin Limburger. Line engraving by J.C. Sartorius, 1692, after C. Eimmart Member and president of the Nuremberg Order of Flowers of the Pegnitz, and writer of occasional verse on allegorical botanical themes. His academic name was Myrtillus Cyanus (cornflower) --Jürgensen, loc. cit., pp. 245-247 LETTERING: M. Martinus Limburger P.L.C. Pastor Kraftshof p(er) an(n)os XXIII meritisssimus atq(ue) sodalitatis florigerae director fideliss(imus). Myrtillus Cyanus. Myrtillus versu grandi bonus atque venusto Ornabat sano laurea ferta sono. Nat. A.C. d. 29 Jan. denat. A. Aet. d. 7 Februarii. Palaemon. C.E. pinx. Joannes Christophorus Sartorius sculpsit. LETTERING NOTE: First line of verse contains chronogram for the year of his birth (1637); the second line contains a chronogram for his age at death (55). A foliate frame surrounds the portrait, with cornflowers and blueberries below CREDITS: C.E. is identified as Georg Christoph Eimmart by Brulliot, loc. cit.
