Description
Deutsch: Marseille RTM SL 68 (B&N-PCC 2003) Boulevard Chave am 27. Juli 1979. - Im Jahre 1979 gab es in Marseille nur eine Strassenbahnlinie, die SL 68, Saint-Pierre - Noailles. Diese drei km lange Linie überlebte als die einzige von einst mehr als 70 Linien, weil sie die grössten Fahrgastzahlen hatte und eine etwa 700 m lange Tunnelstrecke (aus dem Jahre 1893!) zwischen Boulevard Chave und Noailles in der Stadtmitte benutzen konnte. Da es in der unterirdischen Endstation Noailles keine Wendeschleife gab, musste die Linie 68 von Zweirichtungstriebwagen bedient werden. In Verbindung mit der Modernisierung der Strassenbahn bestellte La Régie des Transports de Marseille (RTM) bei der Firma La Brugeoise & Nivelles in Belgien 21 neue Zweirichtungstriebwagen des Typs PCC, die 1969 geliefert wurden.
