| Description |
English: Marks Gate, Ashlyns Road, Berkhamsted in 1970. This was the home of my paternal grandfather from 1929-1960. Looking at family photographs of 1929, the house appears new, so it may have been built in 1928 or 1929. I assume he named it after Marks Gate in Essex from where his mother came from, see 1655097 (her maiden name was Drake). Previously, he lived at Ronhead in Montague Road, Berkhamsted. He and his wife are buried in St Peter's Church cemetery see 1763946 |
