Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Detail of the mural on Calle de los Cuatro Santos in Cartagena (Spain) about the feminist nurse and writer María Dolores Bas Bonald. It can read a fragment of her book Leyendas, published in 1923:

In the Plaza de San Ginés de la Jara, in the old mansion on the corner of what is now called Calle del Duque (...) a shutter of the nailed door is quietly opened, giving way to a shrouded lady who, when passing under the niche where the stony image of the aristocrat hermit lies, lit by the dying lamp, devoutly crosses herself (...). Spying on her with the greatest caution we see that following the Calle de los Cuatro Santos she stops indecisively before the place where the popular cult venerates the images of the holy brothers Leander, Fulgentius, Florentina and Isidore, illustrious children of this noble city of Cartagena. Looking back and convinced that they are not following her, the covered woman resolutely undertakes the steep slope of Calle Nueva, quickly turning the corner of Calle de la Soledad.
