Description
English: Mang Hiti near Patan Durbar in Lalitpur district or in ward no 12. It is ancient and historic. It was built in Saku Era 492 and rebuilt in 2067. There are three streams in this ancient stone stream. This Mang Hiti of Patan and Hadi Gaon Hiti were built at the same time. Other interests started appearing in the valley only after this hiti.

The history of the beginning of the stone spout dates back to the Lichhavi period, i.e. from 400 to 750 AD. The first hiti of the valley was built by Hadi Gau Hiti Lichhavi king Mandev in 550 AD but the demand of Patan was made in 492 AD. During the Malla period from 1201 to 1779 AD, Jitmitra Malla Bhaktupur, Pratap Malla Kathmandu and Siddhinar Singh Malla Patan made many interests in the valley which provided water to the people of the valley.

This Hiti word is Newari. Hiti is a traditional stone drilling fountain that started appearing in Nepal. It is also called the source of water. This water source is underground. According to the locals, this water is healthy and tasty to drink. The locals still drink water from the stone tap, but they use it for cooking, washing clothes and bathing. In the rainy season, it is seen that water comes to the hiti, while in the dry season, there is very little water coming from such hiti.
