English: Maidenhair Tree (Ginkgo biloba) The Ginkgo is the oldest tree species in the world, having evolved about 200 million years ago and pre-dating the true conifers. However, this tree in Bishop's Palace Gardens is quite young - it was planted in March 1999 by Bishop Eric Kemp when it was five years old.
