Mahilani and Hili, Triton in 3-D

Summary[edit]

Description This stereo view of the southern hemisphere of Neptune's large icy satellite Triton shows two of the atmospheric plumes. These dark plumes rise roughly 8 km above the surface. High-altitude winds in Triton's very thin atmosphere blow the plume gases and create the long narrow plume trails that we see here.
