Summary[edit]
DescriptionMad Michaels Spaghetti Factory - 1978 (6462771103).jpg |
Mad Michaels Spaghetti Factory (located at 410 Peoples Street) was a downtown restaurant whose owners promoted the business with ads painted on the plywood-covered windows of nearby abandoned buildings - usually the Lane's. Messages like " Eat at Mad Michaels" or "Freddy is ready for spaghetti" enticed hungry passers-by. The message in the photo invites former Texas governor John Connally to eat at Mad Michaels for only $1.95. Connally was scheduled to be in Corpus for a speaking engagement as was Vice-President Mondale a few weeks earlier. |
