Description
English: This is an image of woman from Bongo, Upper East Region, Ghana, preparing a very popular pancake called Maasa. Maasa is basically a fermented millet based fried pancake which is prepared through a process called Nixtamalization. Maasa is a sweet cake common in all hausa communities in West Africa especially in Ghana and is best served with Hausa Kooko (Porridge) as breakfast.
