Summary[edit]

Description
English: R. H. MOORE. sketcher, engraver "Mr. R. H. Moore. The subject of my sketch is a "bit of a sketcher himself," being the well-known artist in black-and-white whose beautiful drawings have delighted so many thousands of the readers of the Sporting and Dramatic News, the Animal World, Stock-keeper, Black and White, Fanciers' Gazette, Good Words, and many more publications, and to whom my readers and I are indebted for the typical and artistic illustrations in my little work "All about Dogs." I find he is a native of Northleigh, in Oxfordshire, and on leaving school commenced with wood engraving, which he afterwards gave up on account of the close confinement it enforced, and took up drawing as a profession, studying the human figure and portrait drawing, but for many years has devoted himself almost entirely to animal portraits, with what success is well known to most of my readers. Occasionally he paints in water-colours and oils, but his constant commissions in black-and-white have taken up most of his time, although he has done some excellent modelling in clay, and is very fond of that work. from the book "Dog Shows And Doggy People", by Charles H. Lane". Published 1902
