| Description |
English: The worship of gods and goddesses such as Banbibi, Ghazi-Kalu, Hazra-Hajri etc. started in the southern region of Bangladesh after the forest of Sundarbans was partially cut down.
All these rites and ceremonies have been going on since ancient times according to the month, calendar or the words of the ancestors in order to protect their family, neighborhood and village from the fierce animals of the water and forest. In the evolution of time, these old rituals sounded like fiction, but in the social reality of that time, they were the powerful forces, the original basis of group life. The morning “Prasad” phase begins by adding a paste of date juice to the “thanas”. After that, the whole day, the women in groups sing various folk songs about Maa Banbibi, Shitala, Mansa, Kali and other gods and goddesses along with the river forest. That is why all the people of the village eat together under the tree. In the evening, evening lamps are lit in the “thanas”, women sing evening songs. After that, the “pujari” and the villagers returned home after floating a grain of hot rice in the water on the instructions of Ma Banbibi
