Description
Español: Plaza independencia. Está ubicada donde termina la Avenida Dieciocho de Julio y comienza la entrada a la Ciudad Vieja. En ella se encuentra este monumento de nuestro prócer José Gervasio Artigas, padre de nuestra patria. Actualmente y desde hace ya muchos años es el Mausoleo de dicho prócer; en él descansan sus restos en una urna situada bajo este monumento al cual se puede ingresar a visitar por medio de unas escaleras laterales. Su interior está custodiado por blandengues Artiguistas. Ubicada en el departamento de Montevideo
