Summary[edit]

Description Lot 3124-9: Paintings of Naval Aviation during World War II: Abbott Collection. #79: “Mistress of All They Survey.” Artwork by Howard Baer. “Above the teeming airfields of naval air stations stand the control towers, source of crisp commands which maintain order and traffic discipline among Navy air squadrons approaching and leaving the field. At the business end of the radio microphones in these towers may be found WAVE tower workers, doing a Navy man’s job in a war which is women’s as well. Efficient and alert, the WAVES are directing aerial traffic in the Navy’s principle air stations.” (7/10/2015).
