| Description | Lot 2290-8: Invasion of Saipan, 15 June – 9 July 1944. Landing Vehicle Tracked (LVT), amphibious warfare vehicle. Image shows U.S. Marines jumping from a “Water Buffalo” far inland, preceding the assault on Saipan. LTVTs were designed, engineered and built by Food Machinery Corporation Division at Lakeland, Florida; Los Angeles, San Jose, and Riverside, California. Photograph donated by Food Machinery in June 1945. (8/28/2015). |
