Description |
"Lost the global story." , by Erik Pevernagie, oil on canvas, 80 cm x 100cm xx
When our "thinking pattern" is free and unbolted, we can look at things and ourselves differently. If only bits and pieces remain, our mental balance may be distorted. The influx of unexpected incidents can shatter a whole spiritual construction. When the context of things is lost, and the power to assess matters or experiences is missing, crucial disorders arise. When our mental functioning is whittling away, and our mind becomes a lame duck, perception no longer translates the correct inflection, and all connections on the social chessboard are conked out. Awareness can help us shape a comprehensive picture of a functional future. By focusing on the 'singular moments' and the 'inspiring details' of our lives, we can tear open the cloudy screen that obscures our vision to reveal the points of 'interest' and 'attention' that can give perspective on our path. By putting together the numerous parts of a scattered reality and connecting the key points of our life story, mental structures can be resettled. When we reflect on the larger picture of our lives, we can compass our ‘cherished priorities’ and discover whether they align with our actions and decisions. We can adjust them to our values and ambitions if they don't. Frequently evaluating our values and gauging what is truly important to us can help keep our priorities in check. Better than merely "seeing" the "sense" of people's actions is "feeling" the sense of what they are doing. Going along with the line of their wordings and nonverbal cues helps us gain a deeper understanding of their thinking and intentions. We can thus interpret their message and respond to their expectations. When our body decides to get into the action before our brain consents, we must ask who calls the shots. Are we still in control of ourselves, or are we still trustworthy? We have to summon ourselves, question what might be wrong, and challenge the soul-searching subcurrent of our inner self.
