Description |
"Loss of urban benchmarks" - "Township" - by Erik Pevernagie, oil on canvas, 80x 100 cm
When we walk out of our boundaries, we find that knowledge is not a completion or a windfall, but a long process of revisions or adjustments. Likewise, we recognize that wisdom results from the painful filtering of experiences we collect on the bumpy path of life. Instead of loitering around, some rather leave their squirrel cage and cuddle up to the bright side of life. They find a wiggle room to empower their perspective and eke out some soothing moments of relish and buoyancy in the wings of their quest. While the loss of benchmarks is a fundamental obstacle to personality development, an open environment of living together favors communication and contact. Each individual needs an opportunity to participate in the open public space, whether aliens or locals, natives or exiles, assimilated, singular, straight, or gay people. « Bridging the gaps between generations, social strata, and nationalities is a tricky business. However, Erik Pevernagie may have hit upon a workable formula to ease the alienation. » International Herald Tribune.
