Summary
[edit]DescriptionLooking towards Gayhurst House - geograph.org.uk - 1039072.jpg |
English: Looking towards Gayhurst House Looking across the fields to Gayhurst House (c1500). Once reputed to belong to Sir Francis Drake, there appears to be no evidence he stayed there. However, the gatehouse was a public house for many years named after him. Gayhurst certainly was once the home of the father-in-law of Sir Everard Digby who lived there for some time and was later executed for his part in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. http://www.mkheritage.co.uk/sga/docs/frame-gayhurst.html |
