Photograph of the view looking south along the beach in front of the North Beach Bath House, Santa Monica, California. The pier is visible in the distance. The ocean is at right. Many people strolling on the boardwalk, sitting on the beach, and wading in the surf. Some of them have umbrellas. The large bath house has two banners flying from its roof. Several American flags fly on flagpoles in front of the buildings adjacent to the boardwalk abutting the beach. Legible signs include: "Bathing suits", "Bowling pavilion", "Don't forget"..., "See the big diamonds [...] DeVilles"..., "Arcadia bath house, clean smooth safe beach, hot and cold salt water baths, Arcadia Grill Room"..., "Bicycle riding prohibited on walk", "Cottage Restaurant".
