| Description |
English: London Transport Museum RM1737 and DMS1 wait at traffic lights in the museum. The Routemaster was the last traditional doubledecker design for London Transport, entering revenue service in February 1956. DMS1 was the first of the new 'Londoner' buses, intended to introduce one man operation across London. They entered service in 1970 and lasted little more than 20 years. The full story can be read at http://www.countrybus.org/DMS/DMS1.htm . Meanwhile, just a couple of hundred yards from the museum you can still ride on a Routemaster in daily service. |
