Summary
[edit]DescriptionLondini fecit 1790 pipe organ in Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Quebec city, Canada.jpg |
English: England and Son Londini fecit 1790 pipe organ in Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Quebec city, Canada. The organ was made in London, England, by John Avery, in 1779. He was living in John Street off Tottenham Court Road in 1787. Case of mahogany inlaid with various woods and surmounted by a broken pediment and urn. The front of the case, which is decorated with oval marquetry, is a replacement for the original decoration of traditional metal pipes. The instrument is inscribed above the keyboard: England and Son Londini fecit 1790. The keyboard compass is made up of fifty-four notes and is drawn towards the player when the instrument is opened for playing. Is i pushed in like a drawer before closing the front of the instrument. A ‘nag’s-head’ swell device is provided in the form of a pedal-operated lid on the top of the case.
Français : 'England and Son Londini fecit 1790.
