| Description |
Español: Portada renacentista de la Iglesia de San Gabriel, en Loja (Granada). Templo del siglo XVI declarado Monumento Histórico Nacional en 1991. Se trata de una de las obras más trascendentes de la arquitectura renacentista granadina por las novedades que presenta, iniciando la etapa más original y expresiva de nuestro clasicismo. Según la tradición Diego de Siloé fue su tracista, aunque otras fuentes señalan hacia su discípulo Juan de Maeda. En su interior destaca su amplia nave con capillas laterales. También es digno de señalar, su cabecera por su monumentalidad. Cuenta con una bóveda baída en la que se incluyen tres anillos concéntricos con bustos en relieve de los apóstoles. Más hacia el centro aparecen rosetas con bustos de una joven pareja y otro dos ancianos con barba. El siguiente anillo incluye cabezas de angelitos y el último un relieve de Dios-Padre. La portada principal es de 1566 y tiene dobles columnas jónicas sobre pedestales independientes. El arco incorpora en sus enjuntas ángeles engalados que sostienen el escudo del arzobispo Guerrero. En la hornacina central aparece el grupo escultórico de la Encarnación y sobre el mismo un fronton triangular con el escudo imperial. |
